Best for roofers who help owners through an insurer's roof inspection or a replacement before renewal.
Homes in Florida and Texas with a roof 15 or more years old. In both states, roof age can decide what an insurer will cover, so the owner may already be hearing about it from their carrier.
In Florida, a home insurer cannot refuse a policy on roof age alone while the roof is under 15 years old (Florida Statutes, section 627.7011). Past that age, the insurer can ask for a roof inspection, and an owner whose roof does not pass can lose the policy or be told to replace the roof first.
In Texas, the Texas Department of Insurance warns owners that as roofs age, some companies switch roof coverage to actual cash value, which takes the roof's age and wear off a claim payment, and tells them to check their roof coverage at every renewal. In both states, an older roof is a reason to call before the storm, not only after it.

Best for calls and door knocking, because the owner is the one dealing with the insurer.
